Endurance Explorers was founded by Emma Briggs and Kyle Hamilton in June 2015 and was born out of their desire to help time-pressed triathletes have great experiences at destination races. Since then it has grown into an endurance sports coaching company with a focus on providing first class coaching and camps to a wide range of athletes. Accomplished triathletes themselves, with a knack for planning and logistics, Emma and Kyle both love to use their extensive triathlon and travel experiences to help others achieve their goals and have fun.

Emma’s triathlon journey began in 2007 at the London Triathlon sprint distance race. Ill-equipped with a too-tight surfing wetsuit and heavy hybrid bike, she vowed never to do that stupid triathlon thing again. A year later, though, she was back, drawn by the appeal of trying to do better. Sixteen years, eight Ironman races, six World Championships and a ton of fun later, “that stupid triathlon thing” has transformed her life and she now races as a professional off-road triathlete in Xterra races across the globe.

An avid student of the sport, Emma loves to help other athletes to achieve their goals and push their limits. She cut her teeth as a coach at Purple Patch Fitness where she spent three years learning from Matt Dixon and coaching a wide range of athletes across the world from complete newbies to Kona-qualifiers. She remains a supporter of Matt’s ideas about endurance training, strength work, nutrition and recovery and these are a key part of her own coaching philosophy. She is a certified IRONMAN U and USAC level 3 coach.

A swimmer by background, Emma took up mountain biking in 2017 and is now focused on Xterra triathlons and mountain bike racing. She qualified for her elite license in off-road triathlon in 2021 and now races as a professional. Her other athletic achievements include completing the Haute Route Alpe d’Huez and being a five-time finisher of the American Birkebeiner cross country ski marathon. She also loves to hike, backpack and downhill ski, giving her a wealth of experience across a range of sports.

Brought up on stories of her parents’ travels in Asia and Australasia, Emma has always had the travel bug. She has lived in three countries and has visited 36 others across five continents along with 32 US states and 9 Canadian provinces. She travelled extensively throughout her 14 year career working for the British Government during which she held a variety of management positions, most recently at the British Consulate in Chicago. She loves being able to combine her professional skills with her twin passions of triathlon and travel to help others to have fun and to achieve their goals.

Kyle’s first triathlon was the Tiburon Sprint Triathlon in 2001. Just before the start the zipper on his wetsuit broke but, undeterred, he swam with his wetsuit full of water and completed the race, only stopping to help a guy get his boat onto its trailer midway through the run! A full-time firefighter (now a Battalion Chief), Kyle took a hiatus from triathlon following the birth of his two sons, returning to it in 2010 when he tackled his first half iron distance race and his first Xterra. He has since raced in triathlons, bike races and running races across Asia, Europe and North America, is a four-time Ironman and raced at the 2018 Xterra World Championships in Maui, one of the epic muddy years! He loves to ride off-road and the highlight of his athletic career is as the dinosaur who raced cyclocross for which he gained 10 minutes of internet fame!

Kyle is a USAT level 1 and USMS level 1 and 2 coach and loves the satisfaction he gets from helping people to achieve their goals and to have a good time. He also loves cooking for others and has honed his culinary skills over 20 years at the firehouse.
